Dawn Patrol, November 2025, 9"x12", acrylic on linen, available for purchase
ABSOLUT anchored off Stocking Island at Sunrise
Living on the ocean activates the deepest part of my sensory, allowing me to gift to the viewer a translation of memory through exploration of color with my pallet knife and brushwork.
While living aboard ABSOLUT in January, February and March of this year, I volunteered teaching art to local kids at the Exuma Arts Network in George Town on Great Exuma. The after school program, Creative Club, affords students a safe space to express themselves and explore various mediums. I can not thank the director of EAN, Sann Sann, enough for giving me such an amazing opportunity working with such a talented, enthusiastic class and look forward to returning in 2027.
Jessica working in Antigua, "as a plein air oil painter...drawing from the experience..."
Recently, I spent three days Plein Air painting with Joseph McGurl in his workshop on Amrita Island. He was extremely generous, sharing his setup, technique and tricks of the trade when in the field. Observing him working on a piece for the Coors show out west in his home studio was amazing and exciting. Underpainting, the oils layering on top, discussions with our group and Joe all the while working and regaling us with his wonderful stories. Its hard to believe twenty-three years ago I participated in a workshop with Joe in the very same spot. A lot of his process and philosophy has modified, it was an exceptionally beneficial experience as I grow as an artist and lover of Plein Air.
